Nicaragua’s coasts leads into a more mountainous central area. There are many volcanoes on the Pacific side. Most major cities are not in central Nicaragua, but instead along the coast and around the center of the country (not in). There are many lakes and mountains in Nicaragua. Many of its more important cities are located on or near lakes or the coast due to available water sources. Though they suffer from water pollution, deforestation, and soil erosion their largest threat is natural disasters. Nicaragua often has destructive earthquakes and volcanoes, landslides, and many, many hurricanes. All of these make it hard for Nicaragua to really grow because everything so easily unravels. 14.81% of their land is arable and they grown coffee, sugar, and bananas to export for money. Their natural resources are gold, silver, copper, tungsten, lead, zinc, timber, and fish. However most of the underground natural resources have been stripped and gone. Fish is still an important export as well. They import most consumer goods, machinery, and foods they cannot for do not grow.
